At the Barn at White Birches Camp, Duck Lake Road, Port Loring, we have two upcoming events to present within the next couple of weeks: On Thursday, July 23, 2pm to 4pm you can meet with local author Sylvia Melvin, nee: Sally Matthews. She is a home town girl, married an American and lives in Milton, Florida. She teaches creative writing to the students of one of the Elementary School there. Over the years she has had short stories published in magazines. She is the author of the fictional romance "Summer Guest" (set at Pine Lake) and "Helena: Unwavering Courage" which is the true story of her grandmother who lived in Loring. Her hope is that her words may bring back familiar memories, introduce her readers to folks who arouse their emotions and leave them wanting to read more. Everyone is welcome! On Monday, July 27, 7pm to 9:30pm you can join median Chris Stillar for an interesting evening. You can get tickets for $10.00 per person at the office of White Birches Camp or phone Kerry Stillar 757-0155. Since there is limited seating in the barn tickets must be purchased before the event.
